INFORMATION

As a Professional, you need to be informed about what is happening in all areas of the counseling field.  Educationally, you need to keep current with all developments in the scope of your profession.  Learning new models and methods doesn't stop in college or graduate school.  We are called to be life long learners and share our knowledge and expertise with others and our clients.   Politically, you need to know what laws on the state and national level affect you and your profession.  Your membership helps us pay for a lobbyist in the state of Kansas to keep us informed of what bills are being presented.  It is through this knowledge that we can stand up and speak up together and individually about our profession.  

The Kansas Counseling Association (KCA) can help by publishing a quarterly newsletter and emails to keep you up to date on all aspects of the many counseling fields in Kansas and nationally.   KCA's email blasts can send you notices about items of interest quickly and efficiently so you always knows what is going on in counseling around Kansas.If you choose to belong to one of our nine divisions, you will also receive newsletters highlighting the important happening in that specific area of counseling. 

ADVOCACY 

We are stronger together!  KCA monitors the Kansas legislation that can affect the Counseling Profession.  A portion of our membership dues help us to pay for a lobbyist in Topeka who represents us with the Kansas legislators.  The 450 plus members of KCA can share in the pride that they are, through their membership, supporting a high level of professionalism and competency in Kansas Counseling.  Together with you, the Kansas Counseling Association is committed to making lives better through professional learning, political advocacy, leadership opportunities, and networking.
