Dear KCA Members,
Welcome to Fall 2017! I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all you do for the people we serve. I recently attended a great drive-in conference sponsored by the North Central Kansas Counseling Association in Concordia, Kansas. At the conference, we spent time doing some
art therapy where each of us chose one word to represent our personal mission. The word “serve” came to mind as I thought about my mission as a counselor. To me, the Kansas Counseling Association is all about our service to the profession. As an association, we are better together. Kansas Counselors all benefit when those in the helping profession work together for the common purpose to serve our clients.
Each year at the annual conference and the many times we come together from across the state, I am so impressed with the knowledge base of our members. Thank you to all of you who give back to the profession by serving as an elected officer, a committee member, a presenter at a conference, a contributor to the website and newsletters, or an advocate at the state level. Because of your work, great things happen. Just the other day my principal said to me, “How does a school even function without a school counselor?” The word is out there that mental health is becoming more important to the general public. Let’s continue to lead that charge.
I would like to encourage each of you to find that one thing (or two things) you care about and consider answering the call for programs at the 2018 KCA Spring Conference. To submit a proposal, simply fill out this short form with your session title, description, presenter information, and an attached resume. Again, thank you for your service a care for the profession.
